The Provincial Capital Commission is currently seeking highly motivated and energetic individuals to join its team of plant healthcare specialists as Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Technicians.
The Provincial Capital Commission (PCC) enhances pride and quality of life for the general public, tenants and landowners, users, and future generations. PCC is a public asset governed by a board of directors comprised of representatives of the Government of Saskatchewan, the City of Regina, and the University of Regina. The PCC is responsible for the preservation and stewardship of the land, heritage and culture; enhancement and maintenance of assets and service delivery; facilitation of visitor experiences; and regulation of use for Wascana Centre and Government House.
This position reports to the Supervisor of Forestry & Integrated Pest Management and works in a team and independently to assist arboriculture and turf management operations in Wascana Centre and Government House landscapes. This is a permanent Labour Service position offering an annual cycle of seasonal work (typically from April to October) followed by a layoff period.
As an Integrated Pest Management Technician, you will:

Assist in the application of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides and other means of pest control to ensure plant health and control of diseases, weeds, insects and pests in turf and tree/shrub applications.

Perform physical labour outdoors in all kinds of weather in a safe manner. Occasional lifting of heavy loads is required. Frequent bending and walking while operating handheld applicators is required.

Courteously deal with members of the public.

Perform various tree/shrub maintenance tasks, as required.

Perform equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
You will need the ability to:
- Understand and follow verbal and written communication, including precise measuring of controlled substances.
- Use and operate hand tools and powered equipment competently and safely.
- Follow safety protocols, including daily monitoring and use of personal protective equipment.
- Develop and maintain positive work relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to listen, accurately comprehend and appropriately apply instructions to work assignments.
- Offering to help others by giving suggestions, providing information or emotional support, or performing work.
- Perform basic data recording and entry into computer systems.
Qualifications:
- Valid Pest Applicator's license (Landscape, Structural, Mosquito & Biting Fly).
- Experience in Integrated Pest Management or other weed/pest management settings.
- Experience in tree and shrub identification.
- Experience in arboriculture or related fields (horticulture, agriculture, landscaping).
- Experience working in turf maintenance or a tree nursery setting is considered an asset.
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
A combination of relevant training and experience may be considered.
