Life at ATB is about more than work. In fact, we’re consistently recognized as one of Canada's top employers thanks to our high-care, high-performance culture, upheld by the three commitments we make to our team members:

Impact in action: No matter where you are in the organization, you're empowered to make an impact in the lives of our clients and communities.

Thrive together: We want you—the unique, authentic you—to feel safe and celebrated at work. We're on a continuous journey to build the most flexible and inclusive programs.

Ready for tomorrow: We want to enable your success through interesting and challenging work, performance enablement, and learning and development.

About the role

As ATB’s next Sales Director, Commercial Cards you'll report to the Managing Director, Complex Product & Technical Sales, and be crucial in driving payment product and channel revenue. You'll lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) and client-facing strategies for commercial card offerings, acting as a trusted financial advisor. This role involves developing commercial card opportunities with internal teams, partners, and clients, ensuring sales and revenue targets are met while providing timely coaching on the evolving commercial card payments landscape. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of commercial card programs, ranging from large-scale, strategic implementations to smaller, more foundational initiatives. A key aspect of this role involves effectively communicating and influencing C-suite executives to articulate the value proposition and benefits of ATB's new commercial card product. The successful candidate will possess strong program management skills and a proven ability to engage and persuade senior leadership.

Accountabilities

  • Drive revenue growth by effectively commercializing ATB Business products and channels, strengthening the balance sheet, and securing ATB's future.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans for the commercial card program, actively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, and relationship building.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their needs to provide tailored solutions that improve their working capital, through commercial card offerings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (product development, marketing, operations) to ensure seamless delivery of products and services.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and commercial card industry changes to identify opportunities, adjust sales strategies, and understand their impact on clients' cash conversion cycles and ATB's business customers.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners to achieve ATB's strategic goals.
  • Manage processes, infrastructure, and resources to deliver team plans and targets, continuously identifying and implementing improvements for maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Proactively assess and mitigate commercial card risks, considering changing economic conditions, regulatory requirements, operating procedures, and technological advancements.

Skills, experience & requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in business banking/capital markets with direct commercial card sales experience.
  • University degree in business (finance, economics, or related field) or equivalent experience. A CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) Designation is an asset.
  • Deep understanding of commercial credit card products, services, and the competitive landscape, including working capital management principles and how commercial cards optimize the cash conversion cycle.
  • Exceptional sales, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate working capital benefits and present complex issues effectively to executive leaders (President, CEO, CFO), Boards, and Associations.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships as an excellent connector of people and ideas, influencing broad stakeholders to deliver complex financial solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage data to drive decisions and understand its impact on clients' cash conversion cycles.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset with the ability to influence and impact teammates.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills (planning, prioritization, execution).

If you believe your skills and experience align with the role—but you might not check all the boxes—we want to hear from you. We encourage candidates from all work backgrounds, equity-seeking communities and experience levels to apply. If you’re seeking a career where your drive, perspective and growth are celebrated, we want to hear from you.

We’re dedicated to building a workforce reflective of those within our communities, and a culture where our team members are equipped with what they need to succeed—their way.
