About the role
Reporting to the Director of Credit and Administration, the Collections Officer enriches member lives by providing, timely and accurate information and exemplary service to members as well as offering credit solutions to solve their financial needs. In addition, this role mitigates the risk for loss by providing dedicated management of SCCU’s delinquent accounts and appropriate advisory services to the members. This position requires an individual with strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to work in partnership with respect to other SCCU functions. The incumbent will be self-motivated and have excellent time management problem solving and prioritizing skills.
The preferred candidate has completed one to two years of post-secondary education in a general business program, plus two to five years’ experience in lending or collections. Diverse collections experience considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered as well as other relevant working experience.
- Strong problem solving and time management skills with the demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize, meet deadlines and exercise sound judgement and decision making
- Combined initiative, drive, and discipline to meet deadlines and the flexibility to recognize and respond to the priorities of changing business conditions and situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to plan, schedule, organize and prioritize work with a focus on attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Flexibility, adaptability and the love of working in a fast paced competitive market
- A demonstrated personal commitment to ensure skills and knowledge are up to date and meet position requirements
- May be required to perform consumer lending activities and/or offer support to the retail underwriting team.
