About the role

Job Summary

The Community Outreach Lead is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic outreach and onboarding processes to support communities’ access to Hackergal’s programming across Canada, with a particular focus on underrepresented youth in grades 6 - 12. Responsibilities include fostering sustainable community partnerships, promoting Hackergal's programmatic and curricular offerings, and planning and facilitating workshops and events.

Key Responsibilities: National Outreach

  • Create and execute a national outreach strategy and onboarding process to support underrepresented communities' participation in Hackergal programming, including Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC).
  • Research and engage with community leaders and organizations to foster trust and collaboration.
  • Develop mutually supportive relationships with community leaders and organizations across Canada, through research and thoughtful engagement.
  • Draft, send, and maintain effective outreach communications to existing and potential community partners.
  • Develop and manage processes, tools, and resources to gain a deep understanding of the needs, cultural context, and dynamics of each specific community partner.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Team to utilize various platforms to tailor outreach, build awareness and drive engagement with Hackergal Programs in Black communities across Canada.

Program Planning and Implementation

  • Cultivate and sustain strong community partnerships by onboarding and supporting local organizations, schools, and stakeholders to promote and expand coding and digital skill education programs for girls and gender-diverse learners.
  • Collaborate as part of the Programs Team to support the National Hackathon and Ambassador Programs as well as Hackergal Hub through tailored community outreach proposals that identify key alignment points and potential impact areas.
  • Promote and adapt learning resources, Facilitator training, and workshop materials to meet the needs of community partners, building capacity of Hackergal programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with community partners to facilitate tailored STEAM workshops, events, and activities, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for participants.
  • Complete administrative and data management tasks, such as preparing reports, maintaining participant data, and handling correspondence.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Act as a liaison between community partners and Hackergal, addressing inquiries, providing information, and offering support.
  • Manage logistics, including scheduling meetings and coordinating necessary resources for program implementation in communities.
  • Track and lead all metrics,
  • May oversee volunteers, interns, and other Hackergal supporters
  • Frequent travel across Canada to actualize the outreach strategy and support program delivery (ie. conferences, workshops, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned related to community engagement and programming.

What You'll Bring:

  • Strong understanding of the diversity of underrepresented worldviews, practices and experiences supporting BIPOC youth engagement and community outreach
  • In-depth knowledge, preference to lived experience of Black and Indigenous history and culture in Canada
  • Mission-driven and excited to engage with partners, donors, and community organizations to build impactful and long-term partnerships.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and strong self-management skills.
  • Critical and thoughtful approach to Community outreach and working within,
  • Flexibility in work hours; there is programmatic work on occasional evenings, weekends, as required, based on varying time zones and programmatic needs.
  • Bilingual (French-English) is considered an asset.
