The Client Account Specialist, Post Trade Innovations (PTI) is accountable for the successful and timely operationalization of PTI products and services and for developing solid, long-term professional relationships with its current clients (participants and non-participants) as well as client prospects. This can include working with the project team to define new requirements, as needed, and to assist in the implementation and operationalization of processes.

The Client Account Specialist, PTI is responsible for ensuring continued and enhanced client satisfaction by ensuring the timely processing of all daily transactions, escalation and support in troubleshooting issues that arise and follow up with existing clients in an effort to enforce the relationship, establish trust, demonstrate commitment, improve services and ultimately ensure continued customer value.

Client contacts are at a senior level where influence can be achieved and decisions made. Review of existing products and services is ongoing to continually assess how we can bring further value to our clients. The Client Account Specialist, PTI must understand clients’ current issues and long term needs so that new products and services can be identified and offered.

This role is hybrid (2 - 3 days/week in the office) - based in Toronto, ON. Key Accountabilities:

  • Point of contact for client inquiries and communication. This can include responding to imminent customer requests and inquiries that are most often related to the PTI production environment and are time sensitive.

  • Regarded as the subject matter expert for day to day trading activity in Post Trade Innovations (PTI). The PTI Client Account Specialist must have an expert level of understanding regarding internal processes, systems and capabilities so that guidance can be offered to clients regarding solutions for their business.

  • Fosters ongoing support and trust by implementing a client Interaction plan that supports PTI efforts to deepen its relationship with clients, expand its product and service offerings and generate new business opportunities.

  • On a proactive basis, regularly engages clients in person and through electronic means to;

  • Identify and develop relationships with key influencers and decision makers

  • Ensure a clear understanding of each client’s business model, strategy and associated needs

  • Build a strong understanding of the client’s interactions with PTI and that their needs are being met and solutions provided through the products and services offered

  • Present feedback gathered from clients and collaborate on existing products/services as well as potential new value added products/services based on the client’s needs assessment

  • Develops and fosters a strong network of contacts internally across the TMX to assist with client inquiries and solutions, and to share information around potential new revenue opportunities.

  • Ensures PTI participants are assigned the required access based on approvals received.

  • Completes daily reconciliation activities with third party providers

  • Follows up with action item owners to obtain updates and ensure that progress is being made according to the target resolution date

  • Coordinates and schedules internal and external meetings, as required

  • Acts as a role model and ambassador of TMX-PTI in all communications ensuring consistent service levels in accordance with Agreements, Procedures, Rules and related requirements.

  • Able to create and conduct presentations to inform/educate potential or existing clients on TMX-PTI products and services, via face-to-face meetings, webinars and/or other communication mediums.

  • Supports client training activities, onboarding into test environment, testing activities and eventual launch into production

  • Prepares and updates documents supporting operational requirements, training materials and procedures in compliance with established guidelines

  • Ensures strict adherence to established internal procedures, rules and internal controls

  • Ensures business artifacts are stored in the appropriate PTI document repository along with all required approvals, as needed

  • Assists, when required, in the preparation of data collection and analysis in support of PTI initiatives

  • Make recommendations using professional judgment, guided by known practices

  • Monitors the project plan and follow up with resources as necessary to ensure that tasks are completed on schedule

  • Performs additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by his/her Manager

Must Have(s):

  • Post-Secondary education in Business Administration and/or Accounting is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in the Canadian Securities Financial Industry and/or Global Markets
  • Previous experience working with clients is required
  • Strong proficiency with Google Suite and other desktop applications
  • Proven professional judgment in managing client expectations
  • A good working knowledge of the Canadian Securities Industry and the Global Capital Markets, with an understanding of repurchase agreements (repo) and collateral management
  • A change leader with a willingness and ability to adapt to a changing environment and responsibilities
  • Effective listening, written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible to take on a variety of tasks, organized to keep track with the demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and and ensure completion
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills
  • Detailed and results oriented
  • Ability to propose operational solutions and solve complex problems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with a wide range of people
  • Ability to work with Subject Matter Experts to map out business processes using flow chart methods
  • Comfortable working with large amounts of data - ability to organize and digest data into meaningful output
  • Proven ability to provide excellent client service, build relationships, and work in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to work with clients to identify and recommend potential new business opportunities
  • Confident presenting and marketing products/services
  • Ability to explain complex information in simple terms
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • An understanding of risk tolerance and appetite and the ability to manage accordingly
  • Reliable and ethical, respecting customers’ confidentiality at all times
  • Self motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proactive and highly self-motivated

Nice to Have:

  • Equities, Fixed Income, Repo, Collateral Management experience is an asset
  • Bilingual with the ability to speak, write and read in both French and English is an asset
