The Ministry of Energy and Resources is seeking a highly motivated, confident, and results-oriented Senior Engineer to join the Resource Management Branch in Regina. The Ministry of Energy and Resources is seeking a highly motivated, confident, and results-oriented Senior Engineer to join the Resource Management Branch in Regina.
This position plays a key role in advancing the responsible development of Saskatchewan’s oil and gas resources. As part of a collaborative team, you will lead the province’s annual oil and gas reserves calculation, evaluate complex Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) project applications and proposals, and oversee data management to support risk-based regulation strategies. You will also play a key role in shaping regulatory frameworks and improving processes that promote sustainable resource development.
Reporting to the Manager of Recovery Projects, your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing complex EOR project applications submitted by the industry and making sound regulatory recommendations using reservoir engineering principles and risk-based analysis.
- Leading the annual calculation of the provincial oil and gas reserves, including the assignment of work, monitoring progress, validating the results, publishing and distributing the data, and improving the process efficiency.
- Providing thought leadership and applying best practices to enhance regulatory processes and drive business and system improvements.
- Researching and assessing regulatory requirements to support the Ministry’s initiatives related to emerging issues associated with resource development.
- Mentoring and supporting engineers in addressing complex and undefined challenges in reservoir engineering.
- Leading and supporting improvements to the Branch’s data management systems and processes that enhance decision-making and drive efficiency.
- Delivering clear, professional, and effective written and verbal communication to clients, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
To qualify for this position, you will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably in the petroleum discipline, and be registered (or provide proof of eligibility for registration) in the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan. You will have sound knowledge of and direct experience in reservoir engineering, data analytics and legislation and regulatory requirements governing the oil and gas industry. Knowledge of EOR technologies is an asset.
