Newcomer Centre of Peel (NCP) is a nonprofit, charitable, multi-service agency that assists the entire newcomer family in achieving settlement. With experience and expertise in English language training; employability and business start-up and comprehensive settlement services including programs for women, children, youth, and seniors; NCP offers a dedication to service quality. Through innovation and a progressive attitude, we leverage the broad experience of our staff and community partners to overcome settlement barriers.
Key Objectives
- Promote NCP’s Childcare and LINC programs through targeted outreach efforts.
- Build meaningful relationships with parents, children, and families to foster engagement and participation.
- Provide high-quality childcare that supports children’s holistic development.
- Support parents in navigating resources and integrating into the community.
- Collaborate on service improvements to better meet the diverse needs of newcomer families.
Primary Responsibilities
Family Engagement & Support

Establish and maintain regular communication with parents to support their children’s learning and development.

Guide parents in accessing childcare, LINC, and other relevant community resources.

Organize and facilitate parent workshops and meetings to enhance parenting skills and community integration.

Provide culturally responsive support tailored to the unique needs of newcomer families.
Community Outreach Responsibilities

Develop and implement creative outreach strategies to promote NCP’s Childcare and LINC programs.

Build partnerships with community organizations, schools, and cultural groups.

Conduct presentations, workshops, and events to connect with newcomer families.
-
Create promotional materials and manage community engagement activities.
-
Track outreach activities and provide reports to the Parenting Coordinator.
Childcare Responsibilities
-
Develop inclusive, developmentally appropriate programs for children.

Supervise and nurture children in a safe, welcoming environment.
-
Observe and document children’s progress and adjust programs accordingly.
-
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children in care.

Collaborate with families to support their children’s transition to school and community life.
Qualifications & Requirements

Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma or degree.
-
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation.
-
Experience in childcare, family support, and community outreach.
-
Strong interpersonal, communication, and social relationship-building skills.
-
Strong oral and written communication skills.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Creativity and problem-solving abilities.
-
Sensitivity to cultural differences.
-
Second language proficiency is an asset.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
