This is your chance to launch your data engineering career with a dynamic team supporting OMERS Capital Markets, Total Portfolio Management, and Corporate Finance. You'll work alongside investment professionals to develop and maintain data solutions that power our pension promise. We welcome recent graduates and early-career professionals (<5 years experience) who are eager to grow their skills in financial data systems.

What You'll Do
-
Data Integration & Engineering:
-
Develop and maintain database objects (tables, stored procedures, functions).
-
Integrate structured and unstructured data into investment data warehouses and BI solutions.
-
Design and deploy data pipelines and infrastructure to support analytics, reporting, and downstream systems.

Reporting & Analytics Collaboration:
-
Build and optimize reports/dashboards using SSRS, Power BI, or similar tools.
-
Partner with analysts to translate business needs into technical solutions (e.g., stored procedures, data models).
-
Process Optimization & Automation:
-
Support, automate, and optimize existing data processes (ETL, scheduled jobs, workflows).
-
Troubleshoot data issues and improve system performance.
-
Technical Development & Project Delivery:
-
Maintain web applications (ASP.NET) and integrate data across financial platforms (e.g., CRD, Bloomberg).
-
Define requirements, implement system interfaces, and assist in workflow automation.
-
Implement controls and standards for data quality and application governance.

Stakeholder Engagement & Support:
-
Provide user support for applications, reports, and ad-hoc data requests.

Collaborate with internal teams (IT, investments) and external vendors to enhance systems.
Must-Have Qualifications What We're Looking For- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.

1-5 years of experience or academic projects involving:
-
SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
-
Programming (C#, Java, Python, or similar).
-
Data analysis and problem-solving.
-
Strong communication skills to bridge technical and business teams.
-
Ability to juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Exposure to financial systems (CRD, Bloomberg, Calypso, Eagle Pace).
- Experience with Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, or similar).
- Familiarity with prompt engineering and context optimization for AI-driven workflows.
- Ability to leverage AI for content generation, automation, or data analysis.
- Knowledge of LLM fine-tuning, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), or AI-assisted development is a plus.
- Scripting (PowerShell, VBScript) or Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps/Automate).
- Web development (ASP.NET, JavaScript) or cloud data tools (Azure, AWS).
- Internships or projects in financial data pipelines or BI solutions.
