Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and mechanically sound truck
- To deliver products to customers on a timely basis
- Maintaining accurate documentation
- Other duties as assigned including labouring and operating equipment
Day in a life
A day in the life involves safely operating spreaders, plow wings, or combo units to maintain winter highways. Before starting, thorough pre-trip inspections are conducted, fuel usage is documented, and accurate records of winter operations are maintained. Throughout the day, heavy equipment like loaders, backhoes, and skid steers are operated and maintained, while light-duty tools are used as needed. Routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs are performed to ensure optimal functioning. Clear communication with supervisors and team members is essential, alongside strict adherence to safety protocols and prompt reporting of any incidents or traffic violations.
Requirements:
- Have a valid AZ or DZ driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract and CVOR
- Working near/on construction sites
- Ability to work in construction environment daily (ex. working outdoors, noisy, fumes, dusty environment)
- Must be physically fit (ex. able to walk, climb, lift 50 lbs/22.7 kg, drive day/night, reach above/at/below shoulder height, bend/crouch, kneel/craw)
- Having experience driving a commercial truck will be considered an asset
- Being mechanically inclined will be considered an asset
- Ability to sit, stand or drive more than 90 minutes per day
- Ability to perform effective verbal and written instructions
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
