Overview Of The Role This position plays an important role in the Plant Management team. It is responsible to maintain and develop the HACCP program, BRC and other Food Safety Programs. In direct relation with the Quality Control Manager, the HACCP Coordinator is expected to coordinate with other departments to drive the continuous improvement of the Plant’s food safety standards.

How you will make contributions that matter:
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Plant Food Safety system. Lead the Plant Food Safety programs. Coordinate activities required to maintain the Plant Food Safety programs.
- Investigate gaps in the Plant Food Safety programs and associated implementations. Initiate corresponding corrective actions. Lead the implementation by working with members in Quality Department and other departments inside and outside the Plant.
- Refine and audit the Food Safety Programs for the Plant. Monitor for compliance to policies and procedures. Provide advice on problem resolution and assists with regulatory, customer and 3rd party audits and inspections.
- Develop and lead the Plant Training Program. Coordinate/conduct necessary trainings. Implement training sessions and develop procedures and protocols to ensure the Company requirements are met.
- Maintain Plant document control system. Lead the improvement to accommodate the development of the Plant.
- Initiate, lead and participate projects to maintain and support the improvement of the Plant Food Safety system and Food Safety Culture.
- Lead Environmental monitoring program. Oversees the performance of the food safety risk controls in the Plant.
- Lead Health Canada program.
- Lead Internal Audit program.
You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
- B.Sc. or equivalent post-secondary education related to food safety, food science, food technology, and/or dairy science.
- 3-5 years of working experience in Food Manufacturing, including 1-2 years HACCP practitioner working experience
- Comprehensive understanding of HACCP system, GMP, Preventative Controls, GFSI, and audits.
- Experience in food safety audits from CFIA, independent audit organizations, customers, etc.
- Strong organization and documentation skills
- Strong leadership skills – an ability to motivate and inspire others to uphold food safety standards
- Strong communication and inter-personal skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- High level of self-motivation and initiative
- Good written comprehension skills are needed to read, analyze and process different documents, which can include laboratory reports, federal regulations and SOPs
- Experience training and creating training materials preferred
- Strong computer skills, especially for MS office applications
- Lead monthly food safety/HACCP team meetings.
- Other activities as required.
Other Requirements The candidate will show leadership and initiative. They will demonstrate creativity and self-motivation. They must be able to work independently and must have the capacity to multitask. Furthermore, they must be able to bring projects to full completion without close supervision.
