Key Accountabilities:

  • Perform month-end close procedures, including journal entries, reconciliations, and detailed line-by-line financial statement analysis in SAP.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepares and reconciles billings, transaction summaries and settlements with external organisations.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with financial transactions, policies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Review material contracts for proper accounting treatment and payment schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of commodity tax returns and manage fixed asset continuity schedules.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of financial policies, procedures, internal controls, and statutory regulations.
  • Support internal audits, vendor change processes, and external audit preparation.
  • Provide financial guidance to internal partners and respond to coding queries.
  • Assist with charity tax return preparation and taxable benefit reviews.
  • Prepare presentations, reports and dashboards that provide clear insights into business performance and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and cost tracking for special projects and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance from a recognized Canadian Institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial analysis.
  • CPA designation with an audit background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of PSAS and ASNPO
  • Experience in the broader public sector and with internal/external audits.
  • Advanced analytical skills with a knack for identifying trends and translating data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset—you're a team player and a trusted business partner.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and solving problems.
