About the role

BCIT’s Centre for Applied Research and Innovation (CARI) is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE**) Project Leader.**This position will report to the Dean of Applied Research.

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:**

  • Enable research and innovation partnerships with academics, industry, entrepreneurs, government, and non-profits on behalf of BCIT. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Working closely with students, faculty, research staff and industry partners to promote and grow applied research activities in the area of Assistive and Health Monitoring Technologies.

    • Applying for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Assistive and Health Monitoring Technologies and developing this research program at BCIT

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS**:**

  • PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: Wheelchair Mobility Research & Development, Assistive or Health Technology Research & Development, Rehabilitation Engineering, Mixed Methods Research Studies, Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning, Clinical Research, Robotics, Cardiorespiratory monitoring, or other closely related fields.
  • Thorough knowledge of current and emerging technologies and trends, with research experience in at least one relevant subject area.
  • Experience in the development & management of applied research projects and
  • the demonstrated ability to present research findings in reports, seminars, lectures, symposia and scientific publications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collegial manner within a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range

$65,045 - $113,545 per annum

Additional Salary Information

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
