Required Abilities, Qualifications And Experience
- Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- Demonstrated ability, professional preparation and experience teaching Career Education and Foods 10 (a university teaching major, its equivalent, or experience directly related to the teaching position)
- Ability to design and implement a variety of formative and summative assessment practices in Career Education and Foods in order to measure and monitor student progress effectively
- Demonstrated understanding of the Career Life Education Curriculum, Physical Education Curriculum, and Foods and Nutrition Curriculum
- Willingness to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a team around career education
- Willingness to plan Career Education exploration days, assemblies, and speakers
- Knowledgeable about, and committed to balanced assessment practices
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy for graduation level schools with respect to teaching practices and evaluation/assessment and reporting procedures
- Demonstrated ability to recognize individual students' differences and effectively differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the learning needs of all students in a diverse classroom for all subjects in this assignment at the middle school level
- Demonstrated use of highly successful instructional strategies in the classroom
- Demonstrated ability to adapt or modify curriculum for students who are experiencing difficulties
- Demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with adolescents
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies to resolve discipline problems and still maintain the dignity of young adolescents
- Commitment to becoming involved and positively contributing to the culture of the school
- Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff, and parents
- Evidence of personal initiative and strong work ethic with a proven ability to work collaboratively as an effective team
