IPS are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Repair Technician to support advanced electronic and electrical repair operations. This position requires a technically driven individual with strong troubleshooting ability, excellent attention to detail, and the capability to diagnose and repair complex electronic equipment down to the component level. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality repairs across industrial automation, power electronics, and renewable energy applications. This role requires strong technical capability, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities & Expectations: The Repair Technician will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, testing, and repairs on a wide range of industrial and renewable energy electronic equipment. Key responsibilities include:
- Perform component-level troubleshooting and repair of industrial electronics without the use of schematics
- Diagnose, test, and repair AC Drives, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), DC Drives, Servo Drives, and related control systems
- Troubleshoot and repair, power supplies, analog circuit boards, digital circuit boards, and electronic assemblies
- Repair and test industrial power electronics used within automation, manufacturing, and renewable energy applications
- Support troubleshooting and repair activities on inverter systems, converter assemblies, power modules, and related electronic platforms
- Operate and utilize electronic test equipment and specialized test stands to validate functionality and performance after repair
- Identify failed components through advanced testing methods and root cause analysis
- Complete precision soldering, unsoldering, and electronic rework activities
- Perform Surface Mount Technology (SMT) repairs.
- Perform detailed inspection, cleaning, repair documentation, and quality checks on completed work
- Support continuous improvement activities to improve repair processes, turnaround time, and overall quality
- Work collaboratively with technicians, engineering, operations, and customer support teams
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe electronics repair environment
- Support basic disassembly, reassembly, and handling of industrial assemblies where required Qualifications and Competencies:
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant hands-on electronic repair experience required
- 2 – 4 year Electronics Degree, Diploma, or equivalent technical experience
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electronics to component level
- Strong understanding of analog and digital electronic circuits
- Advanced soldering, SMT rework, and PCB repair skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills with a logical troubleshooting approach
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Preferred Skills:
- Experience with renewable energy equipment including inverter and power conversion technologies considered an asset
- Experience using custom test stands, electrical test fixtures, and validation equipment considered an asset
- Understanding of high-power industrial electronics and electrical safety practices preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely disassemble and reassemble equipment and assemblies
- Comfortable using common hand tools and performing light mechanical tasks
- Willingness to learn mechanical teardown, assembly, and specialized testing processes — training will be provided where required Personal Attributes:
