Position Overview

Make a real impact when it matters most. We’re seeking an Emergency Weather Response Coordinator to lead frontline operations for our Extreme Weather Response Program across multiple sites. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Coordinator will oversee all aspects of program operations, including staff recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management. They will work closely with the Program Manager to supervise Shelter Attendants, respond to critical incidents, and ensure a safe and professional environment. The role also includes frontline support, partnership engagement, budget oversight, reporting, and active participation in community forums. This is a key leadership position focused on effective service delivery, continuous program improvement, and fostering strong team collaboration.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a diploma in social services or related field, or at least two years of leadership experience, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. A valid Class 5 driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a current First Aid certificate are required.

Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution skills, along with excellent time management, communication, and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality. Knowledge of social service resources, multiculturalism, and immigrant/refugee issues is essential.

This position is open to all applicants and requires union membership.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
