The Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency (C.A.R.E.) Centre, a member of VCA Canada, is currently recruiting for a full-time Supervisor for Emergency Veterinary Assistants to join our team.

The C.A.R.E. Centre is a fully functioning referral hospital, with board-certified specialists in a wide range of referral services including internal medicine, critical care, surgery, radiology, oncology, ophthalmology, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, emergency and dentistry/oral surgery.

The C.A.R.E Centre is committed to supporting pet owners and the veterinary community by providing the highest level of animal emergency and referral care. The successful candidate will supportand directthe Emergency TA team in a professional and kind manner while recognizing the responsibilities involved in responding to client and co-worker questions.

The Emergency TA Supervisor will also work closely with the hospital's leadership team to promote a positive hospital image and continuously work towards the betterment of the hospital. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work efficiently on your own and with the team. Additional duties and responsibilities include;

  • Training and orientation for new team members,
  • Creating an equitable schedule for the team
  • Coordinating vacation coverage
  • Cross-training within the hospital departments,
  • Assist in performance management
  • Involvement in patient treatments as necessary to support the ER team and overall hospital support.

Schedule: This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with a schedule that can be flexible to meet your individual needs. 50 percent of this role will be working on within the emergency service as a TA and 50 percent will be time to do administrative tasks, our Emergency department runs 24 hours a day/7 days a week but the position does not necessarily need to encompass all shift hours.
