Assistant Designer (Student Position)

Temporary Full Time
This is a student position that is 4 months in duration for the term May-August. You must be a student registered in a Canadian College or University.
This position is for students returning to school after their work term or requiring a placement as requirements for graduation. While not required, preference will be given to students enrolled in a registered Co-op program.

We are looking for an Assistant Designer to support our Workspace Design and Construction team. This role is ideal for students who are collaborative, detail oriented, and eager to gain hands-on experience in workplace design, construction coordination, and corporate real estate environments.
You will work closely with senior team members, consultants, property management, and vendors to support projects from concept through execution. This position offers meaningful exposure to design processes, space planning, building codes, site work, and project coordination within a professional office environment.
What You’ll Do
- Support senior team members on various design and construction project tasks as assigned
- Attend site tours with consultant teams, contractors, and vendors
- Participate in project meetings and capture accurate meeting notes
- Follow up on tasks and action items to support project progress
- Coordinate with internal and external partners including property management, facilities teams, contractors, and vendors
- Complete site surveys and produce mark-ups for as-built documentation
- Update and modify AutoCAD drawings to reflect current layouts
- Organize and maintain virtual project files and documentation
- Create or edit documents and presentations (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Conduct research on national and provincial building codes to support project compliance
- Assist with sourcing and documenting materials and furniture standards
What You’ll Be Working With
You may use some of the following tools and systems (experience in all is not required):
- Design & Drafting Tools: AutoCAD, Adobe tools
- Documentation & Collaboration Tools: Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint
- Project Coordination: Digital file management, site measurements, mark‑ups, meeting documentation
- Industry Knowledge: Exposure to building codes, workplace strategy, construction processes
What You Bring
- Currently pursuing a diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members, contractors, and consultants
- Good time-management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working in an office and participating in onsite activities such as site tours and surveys
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and follow through on action items

The base salary for this position is between $45,600 - $68,400 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). For our student opportunities, the base salary will be dependent on the number of work terms you have completed along with other factors dependiing on your program.
