Applications are invited for the following position in School District #67 (Okanagan Skaha).
DISTRICT OFFICE - INCLUSIVE EDUCATION Continuing, full-time (1.00 f.t.e.) effective 26.05.01 or mutually agreed upon date. Initial assignment to District School Psychologist and School Counsellor. Applicants interested in a part-time position may also apply. Position Responsibilities Include
- Conducts intellectual and academic assessments of students who exhibit educational and social difficulties for the purpose of developing intervention strategies and program placement of students with diverse abilities.
- Works with the school team in the development of the IEP and assists with its implementation.
- Consults with the school and district staff in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the intervention measures.
- Provides written reports on all formal casework.
- Consults with teachers, principals, and the Director of Instruction, Inclusive Education in the development of policy and programs at the school and district level.
- Provides formal in-service sessions for teachers, parents, and other professionals for the purpose of developing and upgrading their knowledge and skills.
- Promoting collaborative team approach to increase more active teaching and learning competencies
- Conducts and disseminates research relevant to the needs of students in the school district.
- Assists in accessing community supports and services for students
- Establishing liaison and transitions with preschool and post-secondary services in the community which provide programs for students with diverse needs
- Identifying students for potential Inclusive Education designation based on Ministry criteria
Qualifications Include
- Minimum requirement of a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, with Level C Assessment.
- Registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC and British Columbia Association of School Psychologists
- A certificate of qualification issued under the Teachers Act
