Software Developer II, AEC
Safe Software is looking for a Software Developer II to join our AEC team. As a Software Developer II, you will be responsible for leading the development of complex software solutions and innovation at Safe Software. This role demands a high level of technical expertise, leadership in project management, and a strategic approach to software development and problem-solving. As a member of the AEC team you will be working in a collaborative environment to build groundbreaking integrations with data in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) world.
About The Team
As a part of the AEC team, you’ll join a group of Software Developers, QA Team members, and Product Managers who use Kanban methodologies to collaborate and deliver new features and functionality. The AEC team is responsible for building and maintaining new integrations with cutting edge technologies in the AEC space (such as BIM or CAD data).
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Software Developer II, you will:
- Lead the design and development of complex software projects, ensuring they meet business requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Serve as a technical leader and mentor to junior developers, promoting a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and automated testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software development activities with business goals and customer needs.
- Participate in technical design sessions for product development and technology roadmap.
- Ensure the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for software systems and processes.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies

What We’re Looking For:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with a strong foundation in software development principles.
- Experience: 3-5 years of software development experience with a proven track record of successful project contributions and technical leadership.
- Safe Software-Specific Qualifications: In-depth understanding of Safe Software's market, technology stack, and customer challenges, coupled with a history of contributing to strategic projects.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in C++. Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor effectively and foster a collaborative team environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Unique Abilities: Demonstrated ability to innovate and think strategically about software development and technology solutions.
Desired skills / Bonus points:

Experience or familiarity with Autodesk products (AutoCAD, Civil3D, Revit, Navisworks) and/or Bentley products (Microstation, OpenRoads) are a plus but not required.

Experience with Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) is a plus but not required.
