Status: Temporary Full-time (12 months with the possibility of extension)
Closing Date: October 15, 2025 Position Summary The Junior Bioinformatics/Data Science Analyst will work within an exciting new multidisciplinary international research project which seeks to accelerate the early stages of drug discovery. Reporting to the Principal Investigator, Research Informatics, the Junior Bioinformatics/Data Science Analyst will develop user-friendly web interfaces upload, query and visualize data with collaborating research teams in protein science, novel compound screening technologies, protein interaction characterization, medicinal chemistry, and AI/machine learning. We work closely with academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and technology leaders to develop innovative tools and platforms that make biomedical research faster, more collaborative, and more impactful. This open science, milestone-driven program seeks to revolutionize and democratize drug discovery to advance human health

Duties

Database Support: Assist in the daily management, maintenance, and basic optimization of our existing database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL). Learn and apply best practices for data integrity, security, and backup procedures.

Database Design: Collaborate with senior staff to design and implement new database structures to accommodate evolving research needs.

Web GUI Development: Develop and maintain custom online graphical user interfaces using modern web frameworks. This will include creating tools to:

Facilitate secure data uploading and validation.

Build simple, intuitive query pages for data retrieval.

Design interactive data display pages and basic reports.

Implement functions for downloading structured data files.

Data Scripting: Write basic scripts (e.g., Python) to help clean, process, and load data into the database.

User Support: Provide technical support and documentation to team members on using the data interfaces and tools.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a closely related field, graduated within the last 12 months (or graduating soon).
- Database Knowledge: Foundational understanding of database management concepts, including relational design, normalization, and proficiency in SQL.
- Web Development Skills: Hands-on experience developing web applications. Proficiency in at least one modern back-end framework/language (e.g., Python/Flask/Django, PHP) and front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Problem-Solving: Eagerness to learn new technologies and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to technical challenges.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a research environment.
