About the role

Tomlinson is Eastern Canada’s leader in environmental, construction and transportation infrastructure services. Tomlinson is currently reviewing candidates to fill a requirement for a Payroll Administrator, this position would be based at our corporate head office at 100 CitiGate Drive. The successful candidate will assist in multiple financial activities relating to our bi-weekly and weekly payroll functions. This will include the timely and accurate reporting of payroll data for the company employees among other duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparing and processing payroll for varying branches of union & non-union businesses
  • Extract, input and review work hours for completeness, reasonability and accuracy
  • Ensure hours are costed, categorized and allocated to appropriate financial sources
  • Maintain confidential employee master files in all formats (e.g. electronically, hard copy)
  • Uphold detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Collaborate with the HR, Finance and other departments to ensure correct and current information
  • Prepare payroll forms, such as records of employment, tax forms, and remittances
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely manner, from employees, government bodies and/or department heads
  • Participate in reconciliations and audit processes
  • Stay current with payroll regulations and standards

REQUIREMENTS

  • Integrity and strong attention to detail are crucial
  • Strong communication, customer service, teamwork and interpersonal skills are required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with SAP and SuccessFactors software would be an asset
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll
  • In possession of or working towards a National Payroll Institute PCP designation or equivalent experience
  • Provide reception coverage as required
