Location: Brantford Factory (10 Craig St, Brantford, ON N3R 7J1, Canada)

Shift: Afternoon Shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday to Friday). Occasional coverage on alternate shifts or weekends may be required for special projects.

About the Role

The Quality Lab Analyst plays a key role in ensuring food safety and product quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for conducting analytical, microbiological, and allergen testing, maintaining compliance with GMP and HACCP standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The analyst will manage documentation, lab inventory, and product holds using SAP, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to internal and external quality standards.

What You'll Do

  • Lab Testing & Analysis: Perform chemical, physical, microbiological, and allergen testing on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods. Maintain calibration records and ensure results meet internal and customer specifications.
  • Quality & Food Safety Compliance: Monitor critical control points, conduct sensory evaluations, and enforce GMP, HACCP, and allergen control protocols. Participate in investigations, SNCRs, and SOP updates.
  • Documentation & Systems Management: Accurately record test results and maintain organized lab documentation. Ensure timely data entry into SAP and support traceability and audit readiness.
  • Product Hold & Release: Manage non-conforming products through SAP, communicate with production and warehouse teams, and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Audit & Certification Support: Participate in internal inspections and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and certification standards.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Conduct swabbing and testing of surfaces, equipment, and air to detect contamination risks. Follow proper containment and reporting procedures.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with production, logistics, and QA teams to support innovation trials, supplier qualification, and warehouse inspections.
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply root cause analysis and trend tracking to prevent recurring issues. Support training and onboarding of new staff.

About You

  • Diploma or degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of lab experience in the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (food preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of GMP and HACCP.
  • Proficient in lab equipment use and quality systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently on the afternoon shift and collaborate effectively within a team.
