About the role

Life Models work in the classroom and studios, collaborating with faculty to provide students with examples of the human form for lessons and assignments. Life Models take a variety of poses, nude and/or costumed, as needed to meet curriculum objectives.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing poses from gestures as short as 30 seconds to sustained poses that last several hours, over several sessions (with regular breaks); posing nude and/or clothed and occasionally work alongside other models;
  • Meeting with faculty at the beginning of each class to discuss set-ups and pose needs; interpreting these instructions and gathering props, garments and linens as needed to meet the class objectives;
  • Working collaboratively and responsively with instructors/faculty to accurately demonstrate the key concepts of the curriculum;
  • Interacting with props including holding, lifting, pushing and pulling; Managing times and types of poses to support the needs of the students in every session.

The successful candidate will also meet the following requirements:

  • 2 years of experience as a life model is preferred;

  • Experience working in an Artist studio or academic studio environment is preferred;

  • Formal Education or equivalate work experience in the fields of Fine Arts, Dance, Athletics or Acting would be considered an asset.

Hours/Week: Will vary
Hours: Shifts are a minimum of 3 hours in length; Evening shifts required
