Job Description SOUTHLAND Transportation is seeking dedicated School Bus Attendants to join our team! Bus Attendants assist the bus driver during the trip to and from school each day by supervising the activity of, and caring for, children with varying special needs. This may include loading, securing, and unloading children in wheelchairs and car seats. As a Bus Attendant, you will work a split shift, working approximately 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. You will be assigned a route between 7:00 am - 9:00 am and 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
Bus Attendants work during the school year and are given time off in July and August.
Requirements
- Bilingual (English/French) or limited working proficiency in the French language is considered an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Patience in dealing with student disruptions
- Physical ability to load, secure, and unload children in wheelchairs and car seats (training provided)
- Experience in childcare is considered an asset
- Clear Criminal Record
- Vulnerable sector check, upon hire (reimbursed by SOUTHLAND)
