EIPS is recruiting a temporary full-time SEAS Teacher at Mills Haven Elementary.

Mills Haven

Elementary serves approximately 500 students in kindergarten to Grade 6, with 25

teaching staff and 18 support staff. The school is located in Sherwood Park, AB.

Mills Haven

Elementary, through the collaboration of staff, parents, guardians and

students, provides a safe and positive learning environment for diverse

students as they grow academically, emotionally and socially. Mills Haven Elementary

hosts the Division’s German Language and Culture Program.

The Social, Emotional, Academic Success (SEAS)

Program is a specialized system program designed to meet the needs of students

with severe emotional or behavioural disorders and related learning

difficulties that severely interfere with both the learning and safety of the

student and others. The SEAS Program provides high levels of structure and

intensive supports along with close and constant adult supervision to help

students gain the necessary skills to be successful in an educational setting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education degree

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

  • Effective organization and classroom management skills

  • Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Experience or familiarity with analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction

  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills

  • Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice

  • Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals

  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
