What is the opportunity? As Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for the production, development, enhancement and maintenance of financial reporting across RBC’s lines of business. You will partner closely with our business partners to deliver management reports, financial reports, and statutory and regulatory reports that drive business decisions. You will provide production support in monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting activities with particular intensity during quarter-end and year-end close. You will implement automated reporting solutions using VBA and SQL to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy, while supporting Reporting Shared Services’ strategic direction and vision. What will you do? Accountable for the production, maintenance, and enhancements of required financial management reports Accountable for the timely development and delivery of scheduled, new, and ad hoc reports and change requests Support Finance teams and the CFO group across all RBC lines of business Interact with Finance/business platforms to ensure accurate understanding of report requirements and provide timely response to user requests Provide support to RBC’s auditors: internal, external, and SOX controls Ensure report and quality standards are adhered to and continuous improvement initiatives are embedded within production and development Ensure adequate and up to date documentation on workflow tickets, report inventory, reporting processes, and related activities/components Responsible for ensuring KPI (Key Performance Indicators) metrics and quality standards are adhered to Manage multiple competing priorities effectively, especially during intense period-end close cycles (quarter-end and year-end) What do you need to succeed?
Must-Have Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Finance/Accounting designation or equivalent education and experience Applications: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel Code Languages: Intermediate hands on experience with VBA (Visual Basic for Application) for automating Excel based financial reports. Basic SQL knowledge. Financial Reporting Literacy: Comprehension of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, variance analysis) necessary to validate report accuracy and support stakeholder requirements Quick learner capable of grasping new reporting tools within a short time frame Must-Have Competencies: Curiosity and continuous learning mindset: Proactive approach to developing new skills and staying current with evolving tools and technologies Openness to change and adaptability: Comfort with evolving platforms, methodologies, technology and business requirements Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and validation rigor: Ability to identify issues, validate data accuracy, and implement robust solutions in a complex financial reporting environment Ability to manage multiple competing priorities: Particularly during intense period-end close cycles (quarter-end and year-end) Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management: Ability to work effectively across RBC’s lines of business and partner with senior finance leadership in the CFO group Strong communication skills: Ability to clearly articulate technical and reporting concepts to finance teams and senior leadership Nice-to-Have: Experience with IBM Planning Analytics for Excel (PAfE).
Coding languages: Advanced SQL, Python
