About the role

Catholic Social Services is currently seeking Full-time 40 hour position for Community Outreach Housing Coordinator for our Edmonton Lurana Shelter. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community. This position has a weekly schedule of 40 hours, flexible schedule based on the needs of the family, events including evening and weekends. Work Schedule - Tuesday to Saturday 9am to 5pm; Job application closing date: July 10, 2026. Program Overview Lurana Shelter is a first stage shelter for women and their children fleeing family violence. Providing safety, physical, psychological and spiritual care to them during their stay in Lurana.

Job Summary: Housing coordinator will assist individuals accessing the emergency shelter to secure housing in the community. Housing coordinator will need to attend viewings with clients in the community and help them to navigate relationships with potential land lords. Supports persons served to build on their strengths and pursue meaningful goals, using a trauma‑informed, person‑centered approach that supports insight, reduces barriers, and encourages collaborative problem‑solving Develops individualized housing plans with persons served and sets short-term/long-term goals to achievement, providing regular check-ins and intentional conversations Engages with landlords, property managers, and housing providers to establish working relationships and maintain knowledge of housing opportunities Supports with completing housing applications, lease signings, and other necessary documentation Accompanies persons served on viewings (when required) and advocates on their behalf with private and public housing providers Facilitates training and provides coaching on housing search tools, sustainability such as tenancy rights and responsibilities, budgeting, and household management Supports in acquiring necessary start-up items (e.g., furniture, utilities). Serves as a resource for persons served and Shelter staff Performs other related duties as assigned to support team and organizational objectives What This Job Requires: Minimum 2-year Diploma/Degree in Human Services (or equivalent). Minimum of 2 years’ related professional experience. Degree in A Social Work discipline would be an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered The ideal candidate will have an organized and compassionate approach to the work, strong teamwork skills, a commitment to developing positive supporting relationships, and experience supporting families. Other qualifications include: Knowledge of the impact of homelessness on families and barriers to accessing and maintaining housing. Knowledge of the tenancy act and of landlord and tenant rights and responsibilities. Awareness of and sensitivity towards those with diverse needs and understanding trauma and implementing practices that provide cultural safety, choice, and empowerment. Proven ability to provide effective communication, collaboration, crisis intervention, and conflict management with clients. Demonstrated assessment, problem solving, critical thinking skills and appropriate judgment skills Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, practice standards, and practice guidelines Intermediate competency with Microsoft Office and other Agency computer applications. Demonstrated ability to act with professionalism, confidentiality, and diplomacy. Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team as well as independently with minimal supervision Proven case documentation and effective information reporting practices. A reliable Vehicle, Valid Driver’s License (held for a minimum of 2 years), Vehicle Registration and Third Party Liability Insurance (amount of two million). Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, and Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months. Summary of driving record with no more than six (6) demerit points current within one (1) year.
