Reporting to the Vice President and General Counsel for AMA, you’ll be responsible for providing legal advice, advocacy, and representation on a wide variety of matters impacting AMA.

How You’ll Make An Impact
- Provide legal advice in verbal or written form to guide decision-making across the organization.
- Conduct legal research into statutes, case law, and regulations, preparing accurate summaries and advice.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents including briefs, contracts, and correspondence.
- Represent AMA in various matters, advocating for the organization’s position and negotiating settlements or agreements.
- Assess risk and provide alternatives to support business decisions while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Advise on proposed changes to Acts and Regulations that affect AMA’s operations, identifying potential impacts.
- Work closely with colleagues across departments, external counsel, and other stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Supervise and delegate work to legal assistants as needed.
What You Bring To The Table
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
- Active membership with the Alberta Law Society.
- 0–3 years of related legal experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to advocate and negotiate effectively.
- Ability to handle a variety of legal files and balance multiple priorities under deadlines.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with peers, management, and clients.

AMA is a multi-service organization representing 1 million Albertans. While most often known for our roadside assistance program, we also offer travel, registries and insurance services, Alberta’s largest driver education school, a member rewards program and member events in our communities.
