This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Instructional Technologist based in Canada. The Instructional Technologist will play a key role in building and enhancing training programs for a major next-generation energy project. This position focuses on developing structured, compliant, and effective learning solutions for plant personnel. The role combines instructional design expertise, technical understanding, and regulatory awareness to support workforce readiness. You will collaborate with engineering teams, project partners, leadership, and external organizations to create high-quality training frameworks. The successful candidate will help establish processes, materials, evaluations, and documentation aligned with industry standards. Accountabilities
The Instructional Technologist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving training programs, processes, and materials while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include: Develop training programs, processes, and procedures for a new training organization while ensuring compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, industry guidelines, and accreditation criteria. Create and execute strategies to support the initial accreditation and long-term effectiveness of training programs. Apply the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) methodology to design, maintain, and improve high-quality learning curricula. Develop and update training materials to reflect plant design changes, procedure updates, operational improvements, and evolving technical requirements. Collaborate with management, emergency response teams, project partners, regulators, and internal departments to enhance training effectiveness. Design reliable assessment methods, including examinations, trainee evaluations, classroom materials, laboratory exercises, on-the-job training resources, and simulator-based evaluations. Establish processes for training performance reviews, trainee counseling, and customized learning plans. Incorporate industry lessons learned, regulatory updates, operating experience reports, and internal improvement findings into training content. Support preparation for regulatory inspections, accreditation reviews, management audits, and compliance assessments. Maintain accurate training records, reports, documentation, and audit-ready materials. Assist leadership with department planning, objectives, resource estimates, and budget-related activities. Promote a culture of quality, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across training initiatives.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring strong instructional design expertise, experience developing regulated training programs, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly. Required qualifications and skills include: Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, training, or a related field. Five or more years of experience in education, training development, instructional technology, or a similar discipline. Experience creating training programs within industrial, technical, or highly regulated environments. Knowledge of training standards, regulatory requirements, accreditation processes, or industry best practices. Strong expertise in digital learning content development and training delivery methods. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent technical writing, communication, presentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality training materials. Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements, project developments, operational updates, and evolving priorities. Experience maintaining standards, influencing stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement. Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to communicate openly with diverse teams. Ability to understand how individual decisions impact organizational performance, regulatory compliance, and public safety. Experience supporting nuclear, energy, engineering, or similarly complex technical environments is highly valued.
