Come work with us!

At the City of Leduc, we’re building a community that works—for the people who live here, and the people who serve it. Our Public Works team is at the heart of that mission. Whether it’s inspecting infrastructure, surveying development sites, or ensuring safety in the field, our work helps keep the city running smoothly and sustainably. If you’re someone who thrives in both outdoor and office environments, and you have a strong foundation in civil infrastructure, this role could be your next step.

What is the Opportunity?

The Public Works Infrastructure Technologist is a key member of our Public Services team, reporting directly to the Director of Public Services. In this role, you will support the planning, inspection, and management of essential infrastructure projects that keep Leduc growing and operating efficiently. You’ll perform detailed field inspections of underground utilities, sidewalks, and surface infrastructure, ensuring all work meets our high standards and engineering design requirements.

Beyond the field, you’ll review construction plans, assist with asset management, and collaborate closely with contractors, engineering consultants, and internal teams to address challenges and support project delivery. Your technical expertise will help guide the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the city’s infrastructure, contributing to safe, reliable, and sustainable public works that benefit everyone in the community.

What will you do?

As a Public Works Infrastructure Technologist, you’ll help ensure that the City’s infrastructure is developed and maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability. You’ll support day-to-day operations through responsibilities like:

  • Conducting and supporting field inspections for roadways, utilities, and other municipal infrastructure projects
  • Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, as-built plans, and engineering specifications
  • Drafting technical reports, memos, and correspondence related to infrastructure projects and maintenance activities
  • Assisting in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of infrastructure upgrades, maintenance programs, and asset management strategies
  • Coordinating with contractors, developers, consultants, and internal departments to ensure project timelines, safety protocols, and construction standards are met
  • Gathering and analyzing data to support decision-making and performance tracking
  • Participating in project meetings, site reviews, and investigations to address issues, identify risks, and propose solutions
  • Maintaining accurate records, maps, and documentation using various digital platforms

Who you are?

You’re technically minded, organized, and thrive in both the office and the field. You have a solid understanding of municipal infrastructure and aren’t afraid to get your boots dirty to ensure projects meet standards. You have:

  • Post-secondary diploma in civil/municipal engineering technology.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in infrastructure inspection, construction plan interpretation, surveying, and reading as-built plans.
  • Equivalent education and experience may be considered
  • Strong skills in inspection processes and site coordination, with experience collaborating effectively with contractors, consultants, and field teams
  • Proficiency with data entry, digital documentation, spreadsheets and Geographic Information systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and field teams
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (required)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Cityworks, GIS systems, or Workday/Adaptive Planning (asset)
  • Familiarity with OH&S protocols and certifications such as First Aid or Defensive Driving (asset)

What we Offer?

  • Recreation Pass: Free annual City of Leduc recreation pass with access to drop-in programs
  • Time Off: Starting at 3 weeks of vacation per year
  • Free Parking: On-site free parking for employees
  • Professional Development: Training and growth opportunities to support your long-term goals
