ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Lead, PEC Shared Services, this position plays a pivotal role in the People, Equity and Culture (PEC) Shared Services Centre, delivering consistent, high-quality HR support, and providing advice on general HR issues and concerns. This role supports routine employee matters and straightforward investigations, policy and collective agreement interpretation, and collaborative engagement with PEC partners when escalations are required. The HR Advisor ensures compliance, accuracy, and proactive service delivery while acting as a trusted advisor to managers and employees across the organization.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Supports PEC Shared Services activities and acts as an escalation point and subject matter expert for questions and issues that the coordinators are unable to answer or resolve.

Advises management on the administration and appropriate application of People, Equity and Culture (PEC) policies, procedures, standards, collective agreements, and applicable provincial and federal legislation/regulations.

Provides advice to management regarding sensitive issues escalating to PEC partners as appropriate.

Analyzes, recommends solutions, and provides coaching and guidance to management in resolving a variety of routine employee matters.

Conducts straightforward investigations, including preparation, meetings, completion of findings summary and next steps.

Maintains precise documentation and ensures effective communication.

Ensures adherence to the Region’s policies, guidelines, bylaws, and collective agreements, and provincial/federal laws and regulations.

Participates in the development, revision, and implementation of PEC policies and procedures to improve professional services and standards.

Promotes corporate policies and practices and supports communication strategies to gain support for the implementation and roll out of new initiatives.

Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns, as appropriate.

Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards.

Participates on committees, work groups, and special projects, as assigned.

Handles information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.

Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a University Degree or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive experience in complex public or private sector unionized work environments as an HR generalist.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary HR practices.
- General knowledge of relevant Employment and Human Services legislation, acts, and regulations.
- Knowledge and understanding of a unionized work environment.
- General knowledge of ERP systems and familiarity with HR-related key performance indicators.
