Position Summary
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise-level IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems, and cloud services. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of systems across the organization. The Senior Systems Administrator leads technical projects, implements best practices, troubleshoots complex issues, and mentors junior team members. Strong expertise in system architecture, automation, cybersecurity, and incident response is essential for this position.
Specific Accountabilities
- Responsible for administering and monitoring the Liftow Group physical and virtual server infrastructure to ensure its availability, optimal performance, and security compliance.
- Provide expert-level management and support for the Liftow Group MS365 services (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, etc.)
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell to streamline administrative tasks.
- Assist in the implementation and support of third-party solutions (data governance, cybersecurity) that integrate into the Azure/MS365 ecosystem
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues related to desktop/server/mobile infrastructure and services.
- Perform regular maintenance and updates to key systems to ensure they are secure and up to date.
- Maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures and perform regular tests.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining infrastructure documentation.
- Provide backup support for fellow team members to resolve issues.
- Provide technical support after normal business hours as required.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Work closely with third parties (E2E, 360Visibilty, Firelink). Establish resource requirements and timelines to insource critical services.
- Work closely with other TMH administrators on large, multi-organizational projects and systems.
- Develop effective project timelines based on business and/or departmental priorities
- Document solutions, processes, and best practices for internal use.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies and trends.
Qualifications
Education & Work Experience
- Post-Secondary Education in Computer Science/Engineering or a related discipline
- 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft Azure IaaS and PaaS
- 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft 365 services including Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Exchange and Entra ID
- 5+ years’ experience with on-prem physical servers, storage and backup systems
Competencies and Skills
- Intermediate to Expert Knowledge in Azure CLI, & Powershell
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Strong understanding of security best practices
- Strong communication skills, planning, organization, documentation, and project management skills
- Experience working as an individual and in a team
- Able to lead, prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and provide or make sound decisions in emergencies.
- Microsoft certifications are considered an asset
- Strong communication skills in English is required; proficiency in French is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
The Senior Systems Administrator will work out of an office environment, where a computer will be used sustained levels of visual effort and regular levels of manual dexterity and concentration are required.
