About The Role The First Cook is responsible for providing general help and support to the cafeteria, through safe and responsible food preparation, service, and housekeeping. This is an afternoon shift position Monday to Friday, 2pm - 10:30pm.

What You Will Be Doing
- Checks with Supervisor for daily objectives.
- Checks food for taste, temperature, and eye appeal
- Ensures all dishes are prepared and presented in accordance with standard recipes and presentations established by the Chef.
- Communicates with supervisor or F&B Manager for production status for the next day before completing shift.
- Assist Kitchen supervisor in regularly monitoring refrigerated and dry storage goods inventory levels; and maintains daily food temperature and refrigeration logs for review by Food & Beverage Manager. Rotates food in refrigerators, freezers and dry storage as required
- Cleans and organizes workstation. Maintains a clean and sanitary culinary environment in compliance with all local and federal health codes.
- Performs line functions as directed by the F&B Manger or Supervisor
- Ensures assigned workstation has proper level of par stocks and supplies according to daily menus.
- Uses proper cooking procedures and internal temperatures as per HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).
- Assist in the Health & Safety program by ensuring that section 28 of the OHSA and company/departmental health & safety policies and procedures are being followed.
- May be required to perform additional and / or different responsibilities from those set forth above as assigned by kitchen management team.
- Stores all food with accordance to HACCP.
- Completes Refrigeration Logs daily.
- Prepares and cooks meals according to the daily menu ensuring freshness and variety, adhering to all food safety preparation guidelines and Company safety/food handling procedures. Bakes, prepares sandwiches, salads, and other items.
- Provides excellent service to customers by preparing and serving meals in a timely fashion, including but not limited to Breakfast (made-to-order to customer satisfaction, and pre-made products).
- Performs cash handling according to the Company’s cash handling policy.
- Performs regular housekeeping duties, complying with all Health and Safety Standards. With Distribution leadership team, set and monitor targets based on a developed, actionable plan
What You Will Bring
- Minimum 2 years’ experience cooking and preparing meals for large group or restaurant setting
- Excellent customer service skills, and experience in customer service preferred.
- Experience with handling cash an asset.
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
- General computer skills (e.g. MS Office). Education and Certification Requirements
- Safe Food Handler Certificate an asset.
- Attended culinary program or equivalent
- Red Seal an Asset
