About the role

City: Toronto

What you will do: We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Machine Learning Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to real-world machine learning projects, data engineering workflows, and model deployment pipelines. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, support model development, and help scale ML solutions in a cloud-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test and validate large datasets to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Support governance, documentation, and process initiatives by coordinating with business teams and data stewards on data quality issues.
  • Assist the Data Science team with model development, accuracy calculations, and data analysis.
  • Assist in building, testing, and validating machine learning models using large datasets.
  • Support data engineering tasks including data ingestion, transformation, and validation.
  • Participate in cloud migration efforts and validate datasets and model outputs.
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvements related to ML workflows.

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Analytical skills with experience in performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes.
  • Programming skills in Python and familiarity with machine learning libraries.
  • Understanding of machine learning algorithms and their applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Experience with query languages such as SQL and database management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, ADLS (Azure Data Lake Storage), and PySpark.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI or similar.
