Plant Accountant

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Plant Accountant to join a dynamic and growing team. This role is key to ensuring financial accuracy, driving cost control, and supporting operational success. You’ll be involved in everything from inventory valuation and project accounting to U.S. sales tax compliance and ERP system support.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own and maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Online , including journal entries and monthly close processes.
- Manage full-cycle inventory accounting, including COGS , BOMs , WIP analysis , and monthly reconciliation.
- Prepare and analyze inventory control reports and support operations with insights on variances.
- Handle bank reconciliations , maintain subsidiary accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
- Oversee AP/AR functions with accurate and timely posting and reconciliation.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, and related reports).
- File GST/HST, WSIB, EHT , and manage US state-specific sales tax compliance .
- Support payroll processing and contribute to project-based accounting as needed.
- Collaborate on ERP implementation and drive continuous process improvements.
- Maintain well-organized financial documentation and handle ad hoc projects.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (BSc or BComm).
- CPA designation (or actively pursuing).
- 3-5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment (electrical components experience is a plus).
- Strong background in inventory management and COGS accounting .
- Solid grasp of general ledger , month-end/year-end close , and financial reporting .
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and familiarity with inventory systems.
- Comfortable managing US state-specific sales tax filings .
- Experience with payroll , tax filing , and project accounting .
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, data analysis).
- Exposure to ERP systems or implementation is an asset.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized , a clear communicator, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
