Associate Corrosion Technician
About the role
Overview Element has an opportunity for an Associate Corrosioni Technician whose primary responsibility is to perform routine, metallurgical, mechanical, failure, corrosion testing facilitating metallurgy operations at site or at a laboratory.
Our Cambridge laboratories provide state-of-the-art capabilities in corrosion testing and analysis, chemistry, mechanical testing, hydrogen embrittlement and stress rupture testing, along with metallurgical and failure analysis.
If you are not currently authorized to work in Canada, Element Materials Technology will not consider your job application. Any candidate must be lawfully eligible to work in Canada as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada. Pay rate $21-23/hr CAD
Responsibilities
- Set-up, monitor, and document corrosion tests. Use provided work instructions which follow standardized test methods
- Prepare, process, and measure test samples
- Work independently to photograph and analyze samples during after testing
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including cleaning, troubleshooting, verifications, and maintaining daily work logs
- Assist with planning and execution of projects
- Occasionally working outside normal business hours
Skills / Qualifications
- Possesses a recognized scientific or engineering qualification, associate or bachelor's degree and/or 1-2 years of significant experience in a testing related field through which an equivalent level of knowledge has been attained
- Self-motivated team playing with excellent organizational and communication skills
- Understand what must be completed each workday and takes the initiative to complete those tasks properly and timely.
- Possess strong computer skills
Physical Demands:
- Frequency of required physical force: Minimum to Moderate
- Lifting requirements: lifting <30 lbs. often, 30-50 lbs. occasionally and >50 lbs. on occasion (team lift)
- Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
