POSITION SUMMARY

Westbank First Nation is looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking student, who is interested in public works and utilities and desires some hands-on experience. The Student Labourer is responsible for performing the daily tasks required to assist the landscape/maintenance crew to ensure cleanup of all jobs are properly completed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Students must be 14 years of age or older and returning to secondary or post-secondary school in the fall of 2023.
  • Any student ages 14 - 15 will be required to have a legal guardian complete the “parent or guardians written consent to employ a child” form prior to employment.
  • No Experience necessary / related experience would be an asset
  • Must have own transportation

REQUIREMENTS

  • Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Performs maintenance duties as part of the department's landscape and infrastructure maintenance activities as it aligns with the BC Employment “Light Work” Standards
  • Assists fellow crew members to ensure economical, cost-effective, and efficient use of resources
  • Complies with all applicable safety regulations and procedures
  • Fills out and hands in a timesheet at the completion of each workday to ensure proper accounting for expenditures for labour, materials, and equipment
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by a direct supervisor.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Westbank First Nation policies, standards and procedures
  • Maintains confidentiality on all matters related to the affairs of Westbank First Nation and clients

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work independently or within a team structure
  • Sound physical condition is required to complete daily tasks

The Median wage for this position is $23.00

This is a term position set to end August 28, 2026
