Position Summary
As a Life Enrichment Aide (LEA), you will implement meaningful recreation and leisure activities that meet the physical, cognitive, psychosocial, religious, and spiritual needs of residents. You will work under the direction of the Director of Resident & Family Services and the Life Enrichment Coordinator to deliver programs in accordance with individual Care Plans, adult-Montessori concepts, and Restorative Care principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver day-to-day life enrichment programs, on-site activities, resident outings, and special events while motivating and encouraging resident participation
- Assist in the planning and development of activities and exercise programs as requested
- Execute resident programming in accordance with individual Care Plans to optimize independence and enhance quality of life
- Accurately document all life enrichment activities, including resident participation, in compliance with departmental policy and regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to support a collaborative work environment
- Provide professional, courteous, and friendly interactions with residents, families, and guests
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols including IPAC
- Participate in departmental meetings, in-services, and ongoing training opportunities
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or a related field (or enrolled in a program with successful completion within three years of hire)
- Experience in geriatric care or dementia care is preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Energetic, self-motivated, and dependable with a good record of attendance
- Ability to work weekends, varied shifts, and holidays
- Adherence to company dress code, conduct, and immunization policies
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
