About the Position
Position TitleEducation Program Coordinator
Job Type Full Time, Temporary - 35 hours per week (8 weeks)
Work Location Onsite
Reports to Manager, EAL and Foundational Learning
Summary of Role
The Education Program Coordinator assists with the administration of daily operations within the EAL and Foundational Learning Department, working closely with department coordinators, instructors, and volunteers to ensure program effectiveness, efficiency, and a high standard of service for clients.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Client Support and Program Delivery
- Support daily operations of Drop-in ESL, Basic English, Computer Access for Literacy Learners (CALL), and Reading Room programs
- Assist volunteer tutors and instructors with lessons and occasional supervised teaching
- Support inventory and supplies, including organizing teaching materials and monitoring resource needs
Coordination and Communication Support
- Build positive relationships with learners and volunteers to support engagement
- Support a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
- Collaborate with program staff to meet program goals
Administrative and Resource Management
- Complete administrative tasks including data entry, reporting, documentation, and filing
- Help plan and lead small projects such as presentations or volunteer-appreciation activities

Requirements / Qualifications
- High School Diploma or currently enrolled in college or university
- Experience working with non-profit organizations is an asset
- Comfortable with using technology, e.g. MS Office, Internet, skype, websites
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation
- International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizen or permanent residents
- Knowledge of general or EAL teaching methodology
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution
