During your internship with our Estimation team, you will take part or lead tasks assigned to an Estimator. The Estimator reports to the Chief Estimator and prepares estimates for public, parapublic or private projects when EBC submits a call for tenders or bid. The Estimator also actively participates in preparing the proposal to be submitted to the client.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Consult plans and specifications upon document reception.

Coordinate tasks with the Estimation Director and Project Director.

Discuss applicable work methods, works to be subcontracted, and call for tenders risks and constraints.
-
Coordinate quantities estimated with assigned technician/modeler.
-
Establish work schedules.
-
Prepare and send to equipment and personnel managers a preliminary report detailing equipment or manpower needs and applicable rates.
-
Determine if jobsite expertise is required.
-
Participate in mandatory visits and/or client meetings for relevant information.
-
Research subcontractor and supplier rates.
-
Establish bid costs and special conditions.
-
Send bid calculations to Estimation Director.
-
Prepare submission reviews.
-
Establish lasting professional relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, etc.

Perform any other related tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and construction engineering; in progress.
- Relevant experience in engineering or construction, an asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
- Adaptability and fast learner.
