Position Summary

As an Ultrasound Technologist at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services to children and youth. You will be responsible for producing excellent ultrasound images of designated anatomical areas as directed, in accordance with established protocols and procedures. Your work will contribute to accurate diagnoses and optimal client care in a collaborative, inclusive, and client- and family-centred care environment.

This is a casual position, scheduled based on operational need to support ambulatory services clinics that typically run on Fridays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and verify orders.
  • Coordinate daily work schedule, prioritizing emergency or add-on cases.
  • Perform ultrasound procedures in accordance with professional and organizational standards and protocols.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and ensure optimal performance of ultrasound and ancillary equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate written and electronic documentation of procedures and test results.
  • Provide radiologists with high-quality imaging and accurate preliminary technical impressions.
  • Maintain excellence in imaging quality and client care, with a strong focus on pediatric needs.
  • Assist in data processing.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, including client confidentiality, safety, and infection control.
  • Demonstrate empathy and professionalism in all interactions with clients, families, and staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, support the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advance a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree from an approved Ultrasound (Diagnostic Medical Sonography) program.
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent related experience.
  • Experience in renal ultrasound imaging.
  • Minimum one (1) year of pediatric ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with clients, families and staff.
  • Well-developed problem-solving and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proven attendance record and satisfactory work performance.
  • Familiarity with MEDITECH and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Professional behavior aligned with regulatory standards and hospital values.
