THE POSITION
Libra Software Group is looking for an M&A Manager to join our growing deal team in Toronto . The Manager will take on the critical functions of helping source deals, qualifying potential acquisition targets, creating financial models and negotiating LOI’s and performing pre-acquisition due diligence, and eventually building and scaling an M&A team underneath them. The Manager will have exposure to C-suite executives, business owners, Investment Bankers, Private Equity and Venture Capital funds, and other senior decision makers.
The role has a direct and measurable impact on the organization with the opportunity to participate in investment and strategic decisions as part of a lean, high energy, fast paced and entrepreneurial team. The role will report into Libra’s Head of M&A with regular exposure to Executive Leadership and the Investment Committee.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will lead the sourcing and acquisition of businesses into the portfolio. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Assisting the acquisition sourcing team: participating in sourcing deals, qualifying targets, building relationships with high quality prospects, and managing the acquisition pipeline.
- Proposing investments to the Investment Committee: In-depth analysis of companies including building financial models, writing investment memos, presenting findings and addressing questions from members of the investment committee.
- Leading the M&A execution team from LOI to deal close: Drafting offers, coordinating the financial, legal and technical due diligence teams (both internal and external), negotiating and overseeing the drafting of closing documents, and updating the investment memo and financial models throughout.
- Managing direct M&A reports: building out and scaling an M&A execution team, hiring, coaching and managing team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of progressive work experience at a top tier accounting, capital advisory, restructuring, investment banking and/or private equity firm.
- 1-2 years of mid-market deal experience executing transactions is mandatory.
- 1-2 years of managing high-performance teams
- Experience working with small owner-managed businesses as a client/target.
- Buy-side experience is a plus but not required.
- CPA, CA, CFA, and/or MBA designations are considered assets.
- Excellent attention to detail, objective and strategic thinking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal & written) with an emphasis on relationships and succinct report writing.
- Advanced Excel and exceptional Financial Modelling skills.
- Ability to work variable hours and travel when required.
- Confidence and polish is required for frequent interaction with senior executives, business owners, investment bankers, lawyers, accountants, and other key stakeholders.
