Reporting to the Museum Operations Manager, the Visitor Service Representative works cooperatively with all members of the visitor services team to create a positive museum experience that includes a welcoming museum atmosphere, providing exceptional reception and gift shop services, and assisting with Museum programs and rentals as requested. Key Responsibilities: • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring a welcoming, informative, and safe experience • Provide information about museum exhibits, events, memberships, rentals, and local attractions • Address visitor questions, concerns, and complaints with professionalism and care • Promote and sell museum memberships, admissions, and program offerings • Perform daily opening and closing procedures for both the visitor services desk and gift shop • Process transactions accurately through the point-of-sale (POS) system, including admissions, retail, donations, and rentals • Maintain and restock the gift shop, ensuring a clean, organized, and visually appealing retail space • Support inventory, merchandising, displays, and the annual inventory count • Maintain accurate attendance, sales, and visitor records • Assist with administrative tasks, supply tracking, and the training of casual or seasonal staff • Collaborate positively with museum staff and volunteers to support programming and visitor needs • Uphold museum policies, procedures, and relevant regulations
Qualifications: • Experience in retail sales, customer service, museum or gallery setting is an asset • Self-motivated and able to work independently • Willing to work weekends & evenings • Have superb organizational skills • Knowledge and experience in an office environment is an asset. Additional Information: • Work Schedule: Weekdays, weekends and evenings as needed – up to 80 hours per pay period • Hours: 8:45 a.m. -5:15 p.m. •
