###Job Description
The Risk and Training Specialist is responsible managing and executing sustainable training and risk management programs and requirements for Magna Mining’s operations.
All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction on training and operational risk that is aligned with company strategies.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure risk management and training strategies align with business objectives.
Risk:
- Support operational teams in managing risks, by identifying, assessing, treating, preventing, and monitoring risks in an integrated manner.
- Understand risk assessment strategies and facilitate risk assessments in consultation and with participation from operations and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee team members.
- Effectively implement risk management systems and tools, including critical risk and critical control management.
- Work closely and in consultation with the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees, and with Provincial and Federal regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance with regulations and effective management of risks to people.
- Coordinate activities and resources to ensure monitoring and reporting follows relevant legislation, corporate requirements, and standard operating procedures.
- Support site leadership in the development and implementation of the site emergency response plans through coordination with site personnel and with the health and safety coordinator.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate data and monitor trends related training and risk.
Training:
- Design, implement, and assess training programs aimed at improving employee performance, compliance, and technical proficiency.
- Develop and maintain training plans and training syllabus packages for all required on-site training completed internally.
- Deliver training materials such as presentations, manuals, and digital content.
- Identify skill gaps and training needs across departments to ensure training initiatives align with organizational goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure training schedules are well-planned and resources are available.
- Conduct and support skills training on equipment and mining tasks according to company and legislated requirements.
- Conduct on-the-job training and evaluation for instructors and trainees and deliver training and conduct evaluations in the various locations including but not limited to surface and underground workplaces.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and legal requirements.
- Facilitate safety training and ensure that instructors and trainees are aware of health, safety, and compliance standards.
- Monitor and audit the organization’s compliance with safety regulations, offering recommendations for improvement where needed.
###Requirements
Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
- Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset.
- Train the trainer qualification is required.
- Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core (770010)
- First Line Underground Mine Supervisor – Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core (770121)
- Surface Miner Common Core (770121)
- Additional specialty modules is considered an asset.
Work Experience: Nature & Length
- 5 or more years of training instruction and development in an industrial setting.
- 5 or more years of risk management experience in an industrial setting.
- 1 or more years of critical risk management or critical control management development and implementation in an industrial setting, is considered and asset.
Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office365, including SharePoint.
- Proficient in training and risk management software and tools.
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent public speaking skills.
