Role: Senior Business Analyst in Capital Markets Location: Toronto, CA Type: Contract Work Model: 3-4 days On-Site
Role Overview: Job Title: Senior Business Analyst – Capital Markets We are seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst – Capital Markets to support strategic initiatives across trading, investment banking, asset management, risk management, regulatory reporting, and post-trade operations. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and senior leadership to drive business transformation, process optimization, and technology delivery initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong business analysis expertise, a solid understanding of capital markets products and processes, and experience bridging the gap between business and technology teams in complex, fast-paced environments. Responsibilities Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements. Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and technology teams to deliver strategic initiatives. Perform process mapping, gap analysis, and business process improvement. Create user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria. Support Agile delivery, UAT, defect management, and implementation activities. Prepare project documentation, status reports, and stakeholder presentations. Requirements 8+ years of Business Analyst experience. 5+ years of Capital Markets and Financial Services experience. Strong knowledge of Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives, Trade Lifecycle, Settlements, or Asset Management. Experience with Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. Technical Skills Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) SQL Power BI / Tableau SharePoint BPMN and process mapping tools Preferred Qualifications Experience with Bloomberg, Reuters, Calypso, Murex, Aladdin, or Salesforce. Knowledge of regulatory reporting, risk management, and post-trade operations. CBAP, CFA, PMI-PBA, or Agile certifications are considered assets.
