About the role
POSITION SUMMARY:
Molding Mixer, reporting to the Molding Shift Supervisor (Process Technician as backup for reporting), is primarily responsible for replenishing resin and pigment in the molding machines. Additionally, the Mixer will handle product and color changes as needed.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
- At the beginning of each shift, the Mixer will walk around to visually check for low pigment levels at machines and replenish those which are low
- Monitor and replenish resin when used from Gaylord
- Check the resin levels in surge bins and silos and report to SS/PT if switching is required
- Verify rail car connection as necessary at the request of shipping office and sign off, report to SS/PT if any issues arise at the resin silos
- Check the silos outside to ensure there is no resin leak and keep the surrounding area free of spill
- Perform daily cleaning of TF resin loading system and keep records
- Inspect and clean hopper magnet and filters during TF machine daily scheduled cleaning and sign off cleaning documents
- Perform manual mixing of resin and colour as needed
- Be familiar with Gravimetric blender operation basic steps in blending resin and colour as needed, know to down load and run different recipes
- Keep records of resin/pigment lot traceability and submit to SS/PT on a daily basis
- Assist PT in resin and pigment engineering trials as required
- Drain resin from surge bins into gay-lords for delivery to Zip/Lees Summit as required
- Perform Resin/Colour Changes
- Perform test to determine melt index for resin in QC lab and keep records
- Work on getting resin and pigment supply daily for mold changes and sign off mold change forms
- Properly store the uncontaminated pigment of the used colour in the colour bins
- Transport the colour bins between warehouse and production floor
- Ensure colour units are operational
- Perform the resin change-over according to the schedule
- Collect the used resin and properly store the uncontaminated resin in the surge bins
- Inspect and clean machine hopper magnets and filters on a bi-weekly schedule and perform ejection test on bunting diverter
- Report any maintenance of machine hopper magnets and filters to SS/PT and maintenance department
- Maintain colour units and report on colour motor blender issues to SS/PT
- Daily/weekly/monthly Mixer check list to be completed by Mixer
- Clean the production floor of any resin/pigment spill during replenishment
- Monthly clean outside Silos free of any spilled resin and keep records
- Maintain surge bin and pump room cleanliness at all times
- Load cardboard into baler and cycle. Wrap, tie, and eject completed bales
- Keep the pigment and gay-lord storage area clean and tidy and report any issues to SS/PT
- Responsible for diagnosis of vacuum in material deliver lines and take appropriate actions
- Escalate issues to maintenance when problem not resolved
- Keep track of replacement hose and filter stocks and report to SS/PY as needed
- Perform basic troubleshooting on the con air blender and escalate to SS/PT if any issue is foreseen
- Change colour motor as necessary and advise maintenance if repairs are required
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience on handling scissor lifts would be an asset
Experience: Previous experience on handling the skyjack would be an asset
Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others as part of a team
