Job Summary: Job Summary: The Trade Specialist is responsible for ensuring full compliance with CBSA regulations. This includes classifying goods using HS codes, preparing and managing import/export documentation, calculating duties and taxes, and leveraging trade agreements such as CUSMA to optimize shipments. The role also ensures smooth cross-border operations and timely movement of goods.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with all import/export regulations across regions. Manage daily shipment clearance by collaborating with business units and providing guidance to customs brokers. Oversee daily shipment clearance, collaborating with business units and customs brokers. Verify import details (product value, P.O. numbers, part numbers, country of origin) and clarify importer responsibilities. Classify products using global systems, confirm HTS codes with the Global Trade Compliance team for complex items. Communicate with suppliers, internal teams, and customs brokers to ensure smooth, compliant imports and resolve entry issues. Handle post-entry requests: corrections, amendments, and refund claims. Oversee CBSA compliance verification, post-audit requirements, and importer responsibilities. Monitor changes in customs laws, tariffs, trade agreements, and government regulations, and share updates internally. Assess risks, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions for both routine and complex customs-related matters. Support development and execution of AMR customs compliance processes, metrics, and reporting. Analyze import reports and in-house customs systems to identify risks, deficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement. Perform additional duties as required to support cross-border trade compliance.
Education/Certifications: High School Diploma Customs Certified Specialist (CCS) CTCS – asset Professional license - asset
