Ashcor is adding to its dynamic team as it expands its reclaimed ash management facility north of Halkirk, Alberta. Our team is dedicated to ensuring the smooth and efficient running of our facilities, and as such we are looking for a Maintenance Planner to join us.
About the Role:
Ashcor is seeking a skilled Maintenance Planner to join our team at the Halkirk facility. This role is critical for ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance planning across the industrial operation. The successful candidate will have a strong technical knowledge of heavy equipment and plant systems, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maintaining operational integrity.
What You Get to Do:
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OH&S regulations, environmental standards, and company safety protocols
- Develop and manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for industrial equipment, including conveyors, air locks, motors, and electrical systems
- Create, review, and prioritize work orders in CMMS; verify scope, materials, and labor requirements
- Allocate tasks to in-house technicians and contractors, ensuring proper permits and lockout/tagout procedures are in place
- Audit spare parts inventory and maintain accurate records in CMMS, coordinate with procurement for critical spares
- Track KPIs such as MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), PM compliance, and backlog reduction; report findings to Plant Manager
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation in Maximo
- Identify opportunities to optimize maintenance strategies and reduce unplanned downtime
- Provide relief support to operations during critical breakdowns or shutdowns
What You Bring:
- Journeyman certification in mechanical or electrical trade (e.g., Millwright, Electrician) or equivalent industrial maintenance experience
- Minimum 3–5 years in maintenance planning within an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience of CMMS systems (Maximo Preferred), industrial safety standards, and reliability-centered maintenance principles
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and failure mode assessment
