Position Summary
As a Dietary Aide, you will assist in the preparation and service of meals and snacks, maintain clean and safe food preparation and dining areas, and ensure a positive dining experience for residents and guests. You will work collaboratively with the Dietary Services team to deliver high-quality service in compliance with MLTC, Public Health, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resident Service: Take orders, serve meals according to diets and preferences, maintain proper serving temperatures, deliver and pick up trays and snack carts, and participate in special events and themed meals
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness of dining and kitchen areas, including tables, floors, dishwashing, utensils, linens, and equipment; report supply and equipment needs
  • Food Preparation: Assist cooks in meal and snack preparation, re-heating, and service of beverages, breakfast items, salads, vegetables, desserts, and catered meals; follow safe food handling practices
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with team members and other departments; support training of new staff; report changes in resident condition to nursing staff
  • Customer Service: Provide courteous, professional, and friendly service to residents, families, and guests; respond promptly to concerns in a manner that supports dignity and independence
  • Workplace Health and Safety: Maintain a safe working environment by following all safety procedures and participating in Fire Prevention, Occupational Health and Safety, and Infection Control programs

Qualifications

  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker training program preferred, or equivalent skills/experience in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality food service
  • Valid WHMIS and Safe Food Handler certification required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, polite demeanor, and neat appearance
  • Dependable with a good record of attendance and availability
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Physically capable of performing all duties
  • Ability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Adherence to company dress code, conduct, and immunization policies
  • Ongoing professional development is expected
