Job Summary
The National Business Administration Manager (NBAM) leads and optimizes business administration and accounting operations across The Salvation Army Thrift Store – National Recycling Operations (NRO) . Reporting to the National Director of Business Administration and Finance, the NBAM manages the Business Administration Department, providing support to Thrift Stores, Donor Welcome Centres (DWCs), Distribution & Recycling Centres (DRCs), and other NRO departments.
This role combines operational and strategic leadership: you will develop and implement administrative strategies, drive efficiency, reduce costs, improve service quality, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and protocols. You will lead a team of Business Administration Specialists and a Coordinator, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, while partnering with cross-functional leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational excellence at a national level.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and develop the Business Administration team, promoting accountability, collaboration, and service excellence
- Supervise Business Administration Specialists and Coordinator, supporting performance, professional development, and workload management
- Act as the subject-matter leader and trusted advisor for business administration and accounting matters, providing guidance and support to other NRO departments to ensure alignment with organizational policies and standards
- Promote knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration
Financial Oversight & Cost Management
- Oversee expense management and departmental expenditures, identifying opportunities for national cost savings and operational efficiencies
- Manage core administrative and accounting processes, including cash management, accounts payable, invoicing, deposits, budgeting, and year-end procedures
Process & Operational Oversight
- Develop and maintain procedural guides and operational standards to support consistent, efficient, and compliant operations for teams
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and implement best practices
- Partner with IT and cross-functional teams to enhance systems, tools, and administrative processes
Stakeholder, Vendor & Procurement Management
- Build and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and external partners
- Support procurement and resource management processes to ensure efficiency and alignment with organizational policies
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years leading business administration operations, including team supervision and process management
- Demonstrated experience improving administrative efficiency, managing expenses, procurement, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies
- Knowledge of accounting principles and administrative best practices
- Project Management certification is an asset

Working Conditions:
- Hybrid work environment (office and remote – Oakville, ON)
- Occasional travel may be required
- Flexibility to work beyond standard hours as needed
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $66,831.48 to $83,539.35 with a maximum of $100,247.22.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
